Simple Machines are a young unsigned band based around Stamford and Peterborough. Their first EP, the Slow Motion EP (which can be found and downloaded free here) was recorded and mixed by Ollie this May and is characterised by the gritty homemade vibe, in the vein of the production on Led Zeppelin's Headley Grange recordings. This experimental recording style adds to their highly recognisable sound.
Their signature sound is a mixture of alternative, indie, grunge and psychedelic rock influences. Unusual tunings, time signatures, and dynamic contrasts set them apart from the stereotypical rock band. The slow burning intro of "Living in Slow Motion" which builds to a huge sounding riff will surely pull you in to Simple Machines' sound.
Comprising of Bill Bowden (Vocals), Ciaran Forrow (guitar), Will Heath (guitar and keyboard), Jamie Tkaczyk-Harrison (bass) and Ollie Nicholls (drums and backing vocals), Simple Machines plan to release a full album this summer.
