Radar is Loughborough University’s contemporary arts programme. The catalyst for each season is a particular area of research or inquiry that is current and is being investigated by both artists and academics. Once identified, the themes act as a platform from which the issues and ideas can be explored via a programme of performances, exhibitions, talks and symposia, providing audiences with a range of opportunities to engage with the concepts.
Radar is not confined to a particular location but inhabits a range of spaces across the campus and town. The programme has a particular interest in working with artists whose practice explores the relationship between artist, environment and spectator.
Radar also delivers a programme of residencies and fellowships that offer artists time to research and respond to the differing contexts of the University, establish links and connectivity with a range of departments and contribute to an exchange of skills and knowledge.
It is intended that the programme will encourage and contribute to critical debate. On completion of each programme, documentation of both the artistic and academic outcomes will be archived and made available for future research via the website.
