Free Control

Information

Hailing from Leicester and making music in one form or another for the past 10 years, Free Control have unified with their current lineup in 2008/2009. Paul Cole (Drums & Percussion) Greg Shute (Guitar & Vocals) Sally Hossack (Guitar, Vocals & Flute) Oliver Bloor (Bass) and most recent addition Mike Sole on Keyboards - have recorded music that is the sum of its influences and yet incredibly difficult to pigeonhole in its own right.

Blending prog rock, contemporary jazz, hip hop beats and classic songwriting they combine all of these to create a cerebral, meditative sound with heavier, rocking rhythms.

What just happened to your Surface Unsigned posting?

I like you Free Control, I think you do some great stuff and have a crackin dynamic as a band but honestly don't put yourself through it.. Ive done it and have the scars to prove it! The organisers make it all glossy but you dont really get vetted. If you have the money to pay their admin fee to do a pub gig then your in!

Look into its history and name an act who has done well in the competition who has gone on to achieve anything?

If you can get coaches of people to pay the organisers over the odds ticket prices (which go up and up and up) no doubt you will do really well, you'll get a nice review from Stephen Huydba who apparantly works somewhere at the BBC but I think personally its very bad for a bands health..

Thats just my opinion

I agree with Steve. If it's worth paying it ain't playing
