The odds maybe stacked against me but I'm a drummer and among other things (rock, blues, funk) I'm currently teaching myself how to play in the Bop style, i.e., modern jazz. I'm not fantastic but I'm not rubbish and can certainly hold my own. I'm looking for other musickins (double bass, saxes, singers?) with similar interests who might like to muddle their way through some standards (I'm thinking Monk, Coleman, Mingus...) until it starts to sound good. Maybe things could develop into other areas too (synth bop??)... no harm in experimenting.
