Been a couple of time……….its not as cheap now as it used to be to say the least

Go clubbing (but avoid ‘Europe’s biggest club as its not as good as it should be), visit the castle, red hot and blues (for the best cooked breakfast in Prague), visit the restaurant underneath the theatre (if you want to go posh), Oh, and the spider museum is worth a look if you’re bored :D

New band coming soon !

Cheap drinks & fried cheese is about all there is now the snow has gone.

the beer isnt that cheap at all in the tourist places. buy yourself the lonely planet city guide to prague, and you can still eek out one or two really good cheap slovak restaurants. red hot and blues is the best place for breakfast by far (as recommended by me, pj will and then jud).

the beer is uk prices in the tourist places, you need to seek out the backstreet bars for the cheaper prices, and its mostly staropramen, with little budvar in sight. i avoided all the clubs though, after hearing nothing but very very dubious tales.

dont get a taxi from the airport, theres a wicked minibus co-operative, who'll take you to your hotel and pick you up, or you can meet them at namesti republicky. in short. get the lonely planet. it'll pay for itself in restaurant and taxi savings alone.

yeah, and 2003.

Prague is an overrated hole. and Brno. not a huge fan of the czech republic generally. if you like porn, pros and beer, and don't respect women very much you will fit right in..

Budapest is great. Though I did get arrested by armed police trying to cross the Hungarian border to Austria... Not so good.

Lithuania is pretty good too. Though I got attacked by a guy who blamed me for killing Mel Gibson and conquering Scotland... I wish I had.

I liked Prague, I thought it was alright - except for when i walked around Wenceslas Sq or whatever it's called and went off it - we stayed in some fancy business hotel - so it was swanky, but cheap because it was out of the way a bit, but you could still walk up to the castle and that

It depends on your expectations though. If you think it's a hole, you might as well stay in Leicester and go to Skeg on your holidays.

I've been around Europe a lot and to suggest i should go to "skegness" because i don't like prague is ridiculous! Prague has a very seedy air to it and i don't like it, not the first time, nor the second time I went and I can only imagine it's become worse. Especially by night and around the main parts and also compared to many other eastern european countries, so yeah, the touristy stuff aside, its a bit of a dive. It take more than a nice clock to impress me. Skegness is a hole too. But i agree with andy, about taxis too, because they are con-men. if you are going to eastern europe at least cast your eye over a guide book with a bit of local info before you go there. And watch out for yourself on the underground, cos i saw one brit and two americans get robbed there by two separate gangs of lads who bustle onto the tube then grab something at the last moment and run. As with most places in eastern europe do watch your bags/money, because theyre canny.

If you want to go somewhere you're not 100% knowlegable on and want to stroll around like you're having a day at the seaside or a walk around Westfield Derby, then you deserve what you get - if you don't want to hang on to your belongings and get robbed it's your own stupid fault. I personally didn't like the touristy bits of Prague but it's not one big stag party stripper fest - I thought the bits where the locals seem to knock about was quite interesting really.

Prague is cool. I loved the Museum of Communism (10foot high statue of Lenin is a bit frightening!)

plenty of cool bars and things off the beaten track. also the big graffiti peace wall is worth seeing.

Bratislava is a good alternative too

oh, and make sure you climb the old town hall tower for a good view of the city. the only time i went to prague was 2 days before xmas 2004, for a best friends wedding, and even then i saw more than one stag do. and dont go 3 days before xmas, it was fucking cold. -12c during the wedding ceremony.

we went here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Museum_(Prague)

its a bonkers natural history museum, more recognisable for it's appearance in mission impossible. oh, and theres a brilliant communist science museum in the outskirts, full ogf beautiful bugattis and steam trains.

Aye Krakow is nice in summer but I saw some brit stag parties there too. Wroclaw has a better night life I thought.
