It's about the homeless. Nothing more. Nothing less.
7 fantastic bands for only £3 and all profits and donations go towards helping the homeless this winter.
We are desperately trying to make a success of this so we can take it to bigger and better things each year, branching out to other cities and helping ever increasing numbers of homeless people each year. At a time when it is not only at its coldest sleeping rough, but also at a time when everyone gives so much to each other, it must be the lonliest place on earth to be alone with no where to go.
Date: Sunday 14th December.
Venue: Escucha (Formerly the 'Old Vic')
Address: 22 Fletcher Gate , Nottingham. NG1 2FZ
Doors: 4pm
First band: 4.20pm
Line Up:
New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack - http://www.nyaaa.co.uk/
’New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack - Cult underground rockers who make the most authentic and original rock'n'roll you could hope for, loaded with innovation and potential and unwilling to hold themselves back. They've secured an enormous international following virtually on word of mouth alone, and there's no wonder why so many big names are talking about this band.' www.ents24.com
'Blistering Black Arts Rock and Roll… Iggy meets The Sisters as the ghost of the Pistols terrorises the stage…' - Bugbear London 2008
Joolz Denby (aka Death by Rock 'n' Roll) - http://www.joolz-denby.co.uk/
'80s famed New Model Army affiliated Punk Poetess Joolz is back on the attack delivering her finely tuned vitriol - her targets may have changed and there may be a slight tempering of the invective , but Joolz is still one righteous deliverer of parables….' Bugbear -London 2008
'For the past twenty-five years, Joolz Denby has been a wild card on the literary scene, treading a line from spine-chilling performance-poet to Orange Prize-nominated novelist. She remains an endearingly forthright figure, taking stories from life’s darkest corners and lacing them with humour and the hint of better times to come. As such, her performances are never less than mesmerising.' Apples & Snakes 2008.
Shamus O'Blivion - http://shamusoblivion.co.uk/(still to confirm)
This highly entertaining band have earned themselves a reputation across the country for playing Rock influenced Celtic Music (traditional Irish & Scottish) in a hard edged, fast and cheeky style. Whipping up a storm among the audience, frenzied dancing and serious foot stomping is the norm.
Fat Digester - http://www.fatdigester.com/
Fat Digester are a music based collective that at times include dancers, rappers and visual artists. They fuse fun and social comment in a blend of Jazz, Funk, and Hip Hop. An incredible live band, they have proved their worth on both the alternative festival circuit and at venues across the UK and abroad. The act is dynamic, energetic and engaging, definitely not for the faint hearted!
