it's not a fair comparison, as the two pedals are intended to do different things. the boss one is just for looping, whilst the akai one is for looping and delay.

has anyone ever used a gibson echoplex? they look like a lot of fun.

They're also a shitload of cash. Gareth Hardwick uses one and loves it.

Samson S-mix - absolutely diddy mixer for about £40 - has twin stereo outs so can be used to run all manner of things. Recommended.

The Headrush is a wonderful bit of equipment and it's sound is a-beautiful.

Samson S-mix is a gud option to go, to mix both guitar n mic input for E2.

How about other mini mixer? like Behringer XENYX 502? U guys think it wud be a gud mixer to get for mixing guitar + mic --> E2?

Difficult to say but the 502 has only one channel with an input gain control so you might not get the greatest of levels for your acoustic. I sometimes use a 1002 (you could use an 802 too) and that has two channels with input gain controls as well as a boat load of others for me to lob minidiscs and cassettes through. S-mix also has phantom power which makes it bit more versatile too.

Is there a pedal which can do this?

 <?php $my_query = new WP_Query('category_name=featured&showposts=1');
while ($my_query->have_posts()) : $my_query->the_post();
$do_not_duplicate = $post->ID;?>
<!-- Do stuff... -->
<?php endwhile; ?>
<!-- Do other stuff... -->
<?php if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post();
if( $post->ID == $do_not_duplicate ) continue; update_post_caches($posts); ?>
<!-- Do stuff... -->
<?php endwhile; endif; ?>

ah, loopers!

As far as i'm aware, only the Boss RC-20/RC-50 has dedicated inputs/level controls for microphone and line inputs, so i'd say it'd probably be easier in the long run to ditch the Headrush and buy one of those instead. David Thomas Broughton has been using one for years for the setup described at the start of the thread.

I think i've bought/used/tried just about every looping pedal going and they all always seem to have at least one design flaw/oversight that makes it less than perfect. I recently bought a Eventide Timefactor and the looper has a flaw in it which creates a 'glitch' if you try and record audio over the start/end points of the loop, making it pretty useless for me and well, just about everybody.

The Gibson Echoplex is definitely the best looper in terms of feature set - just a shame that it's a rack unit and you have to cart a seperate footswitch around with you. I managed to buy mine for £350, which compared to the RRP is a steal. The Echoplex is discontinued now, so i might flog mine to a Battles fan for megabucks in a few months...

p.s why why why did Boss include that stupid Rhythm function on it's loopers? The amount of times i've seen a guitarist getting in a panic mid-set because the guide track has burst into live is unreal...

Gareth, I know it's vastly more expensive but did you have a look at the Looperlative?
