cotemporary guitar music is a bit silly I suppose, I'll give you that. Honestly Im open minded to anything with a good groove. I wouldn't mind trying my hand at something a bit more funk if thats nything to you.

SPOTIFY.COM is awsome dude. but only if youre looking at listening on your computer. Its completely free and has an enourmous catalouge of music that streams directly to your computer, and it's legal.

No good if you want to put stuff on your ipod or whatever, but brilliant for something to keep you happy in the office/classroom.

I'm a pretty good 19 yr old drummer looking for a band of roughly the same age (ish). Im into most contemporary guitar music, don't really like metal, but not opposed to some heavy stuff - no emo please.

My band's pretty booked up in Leicester -mostly on week nights unfortunately but we're hoping to make a good impression and get some weekend slots - and now I want to spread out a bit and get around a bit more.

Has anyone got any contacts they could pass on to get into Cov/Derby/Notts (anywhere close by that isn't Leicester really!) area?

Ive had a quick prayer to the great god Google, but cant really be arsed to sift through all the shit that comes up whenever you put the word 'Unsigned' or 'Promotor' in, so if anyone here can save me from the inevitable boredom and frustration, I'd really appreciate it..

even on weekends you play to an empty dance floor! granted leicester was never rock city, but jesus, its constantly dead!

I might just be narrow minded or whatever, but in my opinion if the venue has a full time sound engineer then he should know what he/she is doing. Any engineer worth their weight in salt would have at least a small mount of training or knowledge of acoustics and reverb. Therefore they should asses the room that is being used as a venue, take into account the shape and size of the place, and be able to adjust the levels accordingly so you can actually hear whats being played.

I understand that this is probably not as easy as I just made it sound, but if you're doing this kind of thing for a living then you should do your research so you do know how to do it. The Vic in Coalviille is a good example of a bloke that doesn't have a clue. Its a small room with a flat wall directly opposite the stage, andthe place has the worlds biggest PA that is always turned up to 11. The result is a wall of mush that only gives you TTS and a bitch of a headache.

Im no pro so its easy for me to sit here and bitch about crap live sound, but hey, if its shit, its shit.

yeah ive had one fall out on stage before, my crashes almost killed me!

Might sound odd, but i find playing less tiring when im wearing ear plugs. My drums sound like saucepans to me,and i cant really here what the guitarist is doing sometimes, but i definately feel that im paying more consistantly.

It might just be a sub concious thing, whatever, but it makes a difference. And it isn't un-cool to want to retain your hearing for as long as you can

actually, im gonn be a bitch and make an amnesty international style stand against this! each venue that doesnt reply within a week will be getting three emails a day, every day until they do.

Why make us simple music folk write email after email, just to be ignored!?! I call my brothers and sisters of the unsigned music scene to arms (Well, emails really), and we shall make a united stand!
