just minor updates today, will be making more in the next week or so. the quoting problems should be improved a bit (quotes-in-quotes should now work correctly), and we have a "find posts by this user" on each profile page.

Who deleted the thread I started the other daythen? Was it me? I tried to delete the original post to see if that would do it, but nothing seemed to happen. Ten minutes later the whole thread was gone.

Until moderator control is restored there's a danger we could all end up in a sewer-bound spampit. Especially given the fact that the absence of said control is pretty much public knowledge now.
Maybe V1 could have / should have tarried for another few months until this kind of nonsense was put to bed?
The spammers we've been getting recently are real people signing up and posting on the forums, unfortunately not much we can do about that automatically. We're in the process of setting up moderators, by the end of the week we should have everything all groovy.
V1 couldn't be kept much longer for maintenance reasons - phpbb is a dog to maintain securely, and as we move over to new servers we want to make sure we have control over all the software from top to bottom. I think you'd have to agree that the current level of spam is far preferable to v1. Admittedly we're not quite there yet feature-wise, but we're on our way.

Of course if this is happening to everyone then you won't be able to read this, but every time I click on a thread title from the unread threads screen I'm taken back to the front page.
This has only started happening in the last five minutes. I'm using IE at work. When I click on a page number it's fine, but I can't read any threads less than two pages long...
