it's closing due to the fact it cannot sustain it's own existance. they've put a bulletin up saying that the general apathy towards live music combined with increasing supplier costs and demands has made the decision for them.
tis a sad day ;-(

Probably doesn't help that Quireboys promotor wants to sell tickets at £15 a pop for Sunday's gig, and has been arsey with us for not wanting to peddle 15 quid tockets for our show!
I wonder what their fee is? It is very sad indeed. Save Junktion 7? Methinks it's too late

Will the ground floor bar go as well? Always seems quite busy whenever I've been around.

£15 to see a band, who had one hit single nearly 20 years ago? jeeesus.
'Ladies and Gentlemen,' they yell, 'we are floating in space!' But none of the people down there care

From the website
"Dear Friends,
This is the message that we never wanted to write.
Due to the grim economic climate, the subsequent decline of the live music scene and the unbridled brutality of our beloved corporate friends, Junktion7 will be closing its doors for the last time on December 31st 2008.
Over the last many months we have all worked desperately hard to keep this venue afloat, but in the end our efforts have come to nothing and we've been left with no choice.
So, after almost 7 years of truly live independent music in Nottingham, it's time to say goodbye.
We do hope, however, that when you walk past our building in the future and see a soul-less trendy wine bar or a faceless supermaket or whatever they choose to do with our little corner of the world, you will see the mark of where the high tide of Nottingham's independent music scene once stood, and spare a second or two for all the awesome memories we've all had in this little concrete rock n roll bunker.
It's now in the hands of the other independent live venues in the city... we know it will rise again. Support your local scene, and don't let this happen again.
In the meantime, it's time to party like there's no 2009!! We would like you ALL to come down to all of these FABULOUS shows and give Junktion7 the send-off it deserves, culminating with the mother of all parties on New Year's Eve 2009.
Adrian, Julio, Hannah and all the staff @ Junktion7.The captain crew are going down with this ship."

two hit singles.
It's ridiculous. It's probably because they carged 20 quid at Rock City last year.
Oh well, it'll still be fun! We're gonna open with 'Hey You'

I think we played our favourite local gigs at J7 and I agree, better than downstairs at Rock City, although we've only done that once!

last time we went to watch a gig, there was a horrible atmosphere in there...far too many hairy arse meet-heads off their tits on MDMA and looking for a fight....I'm sure it used to be a good venue, but it'sclientele of late ruined it....

1. Junktion 7 To Close
Hi all
You may be interested to know that Nottingham's greatest live music venue (in my humble opinion!), Junktion 7 will close it's doors at the end of the year.
This is such a shame. J7 has supported the local music scene for the last 6 years and has played host to some aweosme acts and touring groups. We have been lucky enough to play some great shows there, includingsupporting Ginger Wildheart (twice), Quireboys (this coming Sunday), The Diamond Dogs, The Loyalties and numerous others.
We've enjoyed great nights out there, i've seen some ace unsigned acts, some dodgy ones too. We've drank in the bar, we've danced to the djs.
I'm sure most of you guys have passed through J7s doors at one point or another. Sadly, another cool music venue bites the dust in Nottingham.
