• To repair nasal injuries
Septoplasty
Septoplasty is the surgical rectification of defects and deformities of the nasal septum (the partition between the nostrils). Example of septoplasty includes the following:
• Correction of a deviated septum: A deviated septum is a condition in which the partition (septum) between the nostrils is not in a straight vertical alignment. A deviated septum can cause obstructed airflow and could be caused by a birth defect or injury.
Procedure description
An open or closed procedure is performed to make the nose smaller, reduce a bulge on the nose, change the tip and sides of the nose etc. An incision is made to gain access to the structure of the nose. This incision is generally placed within the nostrils. Cartilage is then sculpted away to lessen the size or shape. The septum could be trimmed to correct droopiness or may be realigned to correct breathing problems.
Often, a surgical procedure used to improve breathing through the nose also improves its appearance. Reduction of the nasal hump, modification of the nasal tip, narrowing of the width, and straightening of the nose are combined into one procedure. The nasal surgery is done entirely from within the nostrils in order to eliminate visible scarring. The aim is to achieve a more natural appearance, rather than an artificial look.
Risks of the surgery
Specific risks for rhinoplasty are rare and heal over the time. Some of the complications that arise after the surgery are pain, swelling around eyes and nose; sutures may continue to re-appear on nose, skin discoloration and pigmentation around eyes forming dark circles. In rare cases, nasal passage may get blocked.
Recovery and aftercare
• Patients could experience some amount of bruising and swelling and it could be resolved over 2 to 4 weeks.
• A splint (support) is placed on the outside of the nose and possibly on the inside as well. Both splints are used to protect the nasal structures.
• Complete bed rest is advised for the day of surgery.
• Limit activity for the next two days following surgery.
• Avoid strenuous activities for about 4 to 6 weeks.
• Return to work in about 1 to 2 weeks
Nose cosmetic surgery has tremendous effect on face structure and is noticeable right away. It not only improves your facial beauty but also helps in rectifying impaired breathing caused due to abnormal shape and size of the nose.
While one could argue that no individual really sees themselves in a true profile view, that is how the rest of the world does however. (actually a quarter profile view to be accurate) In a profile view, the most important facial prominences are the nose and the chin and to some degree the neck angle. The most horizontally protruding points of the facial profile (nasal tip, chin point, and neck angle) can be traced with a set of lines from the forehead to create a geometric form. The more convex this geometric outline becomes, the better balanced the facial profile (and the face) is.
In the proper hands, it is easily
controlled, and can be used for mild sedation to general anesthesia. It
can be used for very short operations, lasting a few minutes, to long
rhinoplasty miami
